Working at Van Leeuwen Techniek means realizing great projects together

Welder and mechanic Erik van de Kamp speaks

Why Erik van de Kamp has been working at Van Leeuwen Techniek for 18 years? The welder and mechanic can easily name many reasons. It goes beyond just the work; it is the atmosphere, the freedom and the people that make Van Leeuwen Techniek such a great place to work. Erik talks about it in this blog.

I started in 2005 in a small workshop, where I supported Bertus van Leeuwen. Since then, the company has grown enormously, but we have retained the core values and the open and equal atmosphere. What particularly appeals to me is the flexibility that Van Leeuwen Techniek offers. It’s not a standard 9-to-5 job, and I appreciate that. If I suddenly need a day off, they always think along. And if you have a good idea, people will listen to you. That space for your own ideas and solutions makes the work so much more fun.

Innovative challenge

One of my most memorable projects was building a helicopter cabin for an offshore training program. We had to create a cabin that could be immersed in a bath to simulate emergency situations. We started with a drawing and built the cabin with stainless steel and plastic grilles to let water in and out. It was a great challenge!

Band

For us it is not just about work, but also about fun. We have a close-knit team and it is always fun during the breaks. We talk about everything, and there is a lot of laughter. It’s not just a job; you really build a bond with your colleagues. Our team outings are great and on Friday afternoon there is time for a beer to end the week. It is also these moments that make working at Van Leeuwen Techniek so special.

Own initiative

At Van Leeuwen Techniek you are not a cog in a large machine, but an important part of a team that realizes great projects together. There is little hierarchy, which means you can communicate easily and your ideas are always heard. That means I have enjoyed working here for 18 years, and I look forward to the coming years full of new projects and, of course, fun.
